Sherman
Mills Fairchild founded Fairchild Aerial Camera Corporation.
Sherman Fairchild started in the aviation business by designing
high speed, between-the-lens shutter aerial cameras.
1927
Sherman Fairchild forms Fairchild Aviation Corporation to
provide a suitable aircraft that would accommodate his aerial
photography equipment. He began the development and manufacture
of airplanes and soon became the largest supplier of civilian
transport aircraft in the country and nation’s largest
manufacturer of commercial aircraft.
1929
Fairchild takes over Kreider – Reisner, which operates
as a separate unit until 1936. Fairchild-Caminez becomes Fairchild
Engine Corporation.
1953
Purchased Speed Control Corporation of Wickliffe, Ohio.
1954
Combined operations and moved to St. Augustine, Florida.
1957
Moved
to West Babylon, New York
1964
Moved to Fairchild Drive, Winston-Salem, North Carolina
1966
The parent company changes its name to Fairchild Industries.
1989
Fairchild Industries is acquired by Banner Industries which
changes its name to the Fairchild Corporation. This corporation
focuses on industrial products.

Relocated to West Point Blvd., Winston-Salem, North Carolina
